Like most churches, Emmaus Road is adapting to a spiritual, social, religious environment that has drastically changed. At this time, and in the place we live, how are we as Christ followers called to share the journey of faith and ministry together? Trying to be sensitive to the Spirit, rooted in the Story, committed to continue, we are finding our way with grace and courage and creativity, as God grants it. This includes new places and spaces for Emmaus Road. We no longer meet in a brick and mortar church building, but welcome each other into our homes the first and third Sundays. “House Church” is something both ancient and new; more recently, it has become a common incarnation of Christian fellowship, in response to the needs of the community, the world, and the changing landscape. Our desire for a somewhat more public gathering, though, and a coming together of our multiple house church groups, has led us to host “Pop Up Church” on the second and fourth Sundays. So far, this has been happening at an event space we have rented in the University District of Seattle, and it’s been great! If you are interested in more details, and perhaps joining us at a Pop Up Church before coming to a House Church gathering, please email, call, or text!
