Love, joy, PEACE. What luxuries. The third fruit of the spirit from the Apostle Paul’s list in Galatians 5 – peace –  seems as unlikely and inauthentic these days as the first two.

As Christ followers, though, we learn of reality in the Spirit, and life in the Kingdom, not governed by the world. When the Apostle Paul wrote to the Galatians, it was not from a place of comfort or safety. It was not during a time of peace and harmony for the church there. But the “peace of God, which transcends all understanding,” was, and is, possible. Seeds of faith are watered by God’s grace in our ongoing baptism, nourished by his love, and warmed and guided by the light of Jesus. Because of this, we can bear this fruit of the Spirit.

What does this kind of peace look like?
Have you experienced it?
