Happy Fourth of July, everyone.
Happy? Well, that is a little complicated these days, isn’t it. Great time to ponder JOY.
Perhaps you have seen and heard this:
“Find things that bring you joy.
Find things to remember.
Find connection.
You can find it all
if you just know where to look.
Shop ____.
Find Joy.”
Enticing. But is it believable?
Whatever your opinion of this particilar corporate slogan, when the Apostle Paul wrote to the Galatians a couple thousand years ago, mentioning the spiritual fruit of “joy” right after “love,” it was about something else. That “something else” is what we want to explore together tomorrow, during our time of learning. Beyond Sunday ZOOM Church, we could explore this for the rest of our lives! This particular fruit of the Spirit – joy – is not found where expected. There is a secret, or mystery, or at least a revelation and discovery, involved in bearing this fruit. Jesus told a really short story about someone who experienced this.
