Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord,
and he will reward them for what they have done.
Proverbs 19:17

Lots of people are talking about how wonderful it is that the weather has turned nice again. I agree.

But if you are lonely, harassed, and homeless in our region, life remains miserable. It is warmer, but the streets are still dangerous and desperate. Such is the plight of too many neighbors. Numbers continue to move in the wrong direction; it discourages us.

What encourages me, though, is the steady rhythm of generosity and community support that comes together every quarter on a FIFTH SUNDAY. Because many of you show up to give and serve, I am also held accountable to do my part. The task of buying specific items, coming to church, packing things up together, eventually leads to a positive exchange between staff at Aurora Commons and individuals walking in their door, looking for acceptance and a little help. What we do, helps; it does make a difference!

And, as the wisdom of Proverbs promises, the Lord sees and rewards generosity.

Tomorrow, we have the added opportunity to share our gathering with folks from the Maple Leaf Community Council, thanks to Betsy Turnbull’s neighborhood work. We will get to hear a little about what is going on around our church, and they will get to see a little more of what goes on inside our church building!

Harbor will partner with us, again, furnishing food and beverages, along with their contributions to the Aurora Commons supplies.

If you remembered to start the flow of candy for the great Easter Egg Hunt, that would also be welcome!

Do not opt out; if you can be with your church on a day like tomorrow, why would you stay away?
